Victim in Kilgore apartment fire says she was stalked, abused
News

KILGORE, TX (KLTV)- The victim in Thursday's apartment arson in Kilgore claims she was stalked and abused by the man who set her apartment on fire.

In an interview with KLTV, she says the suspect stalked her and had beaten her as recently as a week ago. She had a restraining order put in place against him, but she claims he told her that his intention was to burn her apartment down.

According to the victim, one day after being released from jail, he made good on that threat, apparently setting her apartment on fire. She lost everything in the fire, including all of her children's clothes.

The apartment is across the street from Kilgore Fire Station No. 3, so the blaze was quickly extinguished.

The man who started the fire fled into nearby woods and a ground and air search for him is under way. His identity has not been released.

The Red Cross has been called to assist the victim.
