Video: John Mayer and Prancercise...a match made in (exercise) heaven?

Just for fun, John Mayer released his song Paper Dolls, and had the creator of the fitness workout called Prancercise prance to the song in his official video.

Prancercise has been around since the late 1990s, and perhaps now, with the release of Mayer's video, it'll catch on in the same way Zumba has.

Trivia: some say that Paper Dolls is Mayer's response to Taylor Swift's song about him, called Dear John.

EMT instructor named as one of top fire instructors in nation

Kilgore College instructor Eddie Bernaldez was recently named as one of the top fire instructors in the nation by the website FireScience.org.

Bernaldez began working at KC in 1996 and has served as the Emergency Medical Technology program director and instructor at KC—Longview since 2000.

Firescience.org recently set out to find educators in fire science, fire responder care, and forestry who had been recognized for excellence in the classroom, on campus and in the community.

Bernaldez was selected partly because he has hundreds of successful former students who are now employed as EMTs and firefighters—mostly with Champion EMS and the Longview Fire Department—a testament to his dedication to comprehensive first responder training.

Ranger Cheerleader tryouts set for Saturday

Kilgore College will host cheerleader tryouts Saturday, June 22, on the Kilgore campus.

High school seniors and college freshmen, both men and women, are eligible to try out to become a KC Ranger Cheerleader.

Registration will begin 1 p.m. at Parks Fitness Center.

East Texas Fire Academy demonstrates new training equipment

KILGORE, TX (KLTV)- Tuesday morning, the Kilgore College Fire Academy introduced the Bull X LPG prop with a ceremony and live demonstration.

Thanks to a donation by Martin L.P. Gas, the Kilgore College Fire Academy has this rare piece of equipment added to their program.

"I'm pleased to announce that we are the very first fire academy in this part of the country that has one of these props," said Mike Fennell, the lead instructor at Kilgore College Fire Academy.

The Bull X LPG prop stimulates ignitable liquid by burning liquid LPG.

"What we are trying to do on this prop that we demonstrated this morning is show the students how they can go in there, having a sustained water supply, having using the incident management system and go in there and shut a valve off and do it safely," said Fennell.

Try this fruit tart to celebrate National Cherry Tart Day

June 18 is National Cherry Tart Day, and I have an easy recipe to share with you to help you celebrate the day deliciously!

Grab some pre-made pie crust dough if you don't have time to make your own; it works just as well!

Mama Steph’s rustic fruit galette

For the crust:

1 1/4 cup flour

1 1/2 teaspoons sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

4 oz (1/2 cup, 1 stick, 8 Tbsp) butter, cut into small (1/2-inch) cubes, chilled in freezer at least 15 minutes, preferably an hour

4 to 6 Tbsp ice water

(tip: if you’re pressed for time, use a pastry crust from the refrigerator section; that’s what I used and what you see in the picture! It’s delicious; however, if you have time, it’s fun to try to make your own crust.)

For the filling:

2-3 peaches, peeled and sliced into thin wedges

1 1/2 cups fresh blueberries, cherries, blackberries, or other favorite fruit

3 TBS sugar
